In October of 2021 the youngest daughter of the family, Saja, left for Bonaire for 5 months for her internship. While searching for a place to live for her, we came across Prikichi Residence. Pretty soon after, the ad came by that this resort was looking for new owners.

Running a campsite in another country, starting a B&B, or something similar… That’s something we always wanted to do as a family. This happening now seemed too good to be true.

But it really was true and soon we had to think about how we were going to tackle this. Emigrating to the other side of the world is a big thing… Tom, Daniëlle and Lianne all resigned from their permanent jobs and the parental home has been sold. In the meantime, we were concerned with the most difficult task of the entire emigration; thinking of a new name for the resort.

After a lot of names have been reviewed, we have found the perfect name for this cozy, small-scale resort: Summer Village. We consciously chose the word Village, because we actually want to be a small village within Kralendijk, where you feel welcome and where everyone takes each other into account. We are a meeting place for everyone who needs it. 

In December of 2021 the time had come; Tom, Daniëlle and Lianne emigrated with their dog Kiko to Bonaire, where they were met by Saja. From that moment on, the adventure started that the four of us started.

A lot has changed in the meantime. All apartments and studios are completely renovated inside, there is a bar built by the pool and we have been working hard at the resort itself. There are also changes within the family and the work ethics. Saja has moved back to the Netherlands, Kiko has made way for 2 Bonairian stray dogs and we all have our own task within the company.
